Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) has been in use worldwide as a measure of Wastewater organic strength for charging purposes and as a regulatory discharge parameter.

The standard blue book method typically takes 2 hrs to give a result and requires use of hazardous chemicals that are, in effect banned in Europe but used under special licence.

Envitech will present a live demo of a new lab analyser from LAR in Germany that generates COD results in minutes without requiring reagents at all. This analyser, QuickCOD Lab has been adapted from the successful process analyser range, the QuickCOD Ultra. Application data will be discussed, demonstrating how this novel technique is increasingly being used successfully for wastewater COD measurement requirements.

Frank Zorn is the Area Manager, Northern Europe for LAR Process Analysers AG. He has been working at LAR since 2004, and has been responsible for the Northern Europe sales region since 2010.
